Higher Ed Conference in Dubai Focuses on Sustainability

Posted By: Danielle Fowler    Published: Monday, 21 Mar 2016

For the past four years, the MSU Centre in Dubai has organized an annual international conference in higher education. This year's conference focused raising awareness of the important link between education and the sustainability of the planet.

One of the conference's main themes was the role of higher education in sustainability, along with the roles that government partners, industry, business, and other NGOs must play in the education of today's students.

This year's conference brought together leading experts who addressed the changing demands of higher education in relation to key environmental issues, the United Nations Food Program, sustainable business practices, scientific development in a sustainable society, public health, and the use of technology for societal development.

Local schools who participated in MSU Dubai's 30-day Go Green challenge were presented with the Dubai International Academic City Award for Innovation.

"Now in its fourth year, this conference has become a must-attend event for industry leaders to convene and discuss academic sectors of importance and wider issues that affect all of us," said guest speaker Ibrahim Moosa Jamel, director of operations for Dubai Knowledge village and Dubai International Academic City.

Previous conference themes have concentrated on providing academics from around the world with the opportunity to share innovative educational strategies and approaches to research. Presenters from over forty countries have attended the conference each year.
